WHO I AM, WHAT I DO
I am a math, Spanish, and yoga teacher who is dedicated to excellence, learning, and honoring the whole student. I have worked at Milken Community High School and Pacific Hills High School in the classroom. Privately, I have over 25 years of experience working with upper elementary, middle school, high school, and community college aged students in a on-to-one setting helping them achieve their math and Spanish (and yoga) goals.
I grew up in Macon, Missouri, and earned my BA from the University of Missouri. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy practicing yoga, walking my dog, Oogie, and spending time with my family.

HOW I WORK
INDIVIDUALIZED ATTENTION
In general, I work with students once or twice a week at a local library or coffee shop in Venice. I specialize in math, Spanish, and ACT/SAT math preparation. I love what I do and am able to connect quickly and effectively with each student. Some students see me once in a while to prepare for a test or work on a particularly challenging concept, and others see me every week for multiple years.

I highly recommend Stephanie Avedon to anyone whose child needs help with math. Stephanie came through for us in a crisis situation (as far as my daughter was concerned anyway). My daughter was struggling in her 9th grade Geometry Honors class and kept thinking she could turn the situation around on her own but as much as she tried (including staying for tutoring sessions with her Geometry teacher, etc), she was just not getting it. A few weeks before the end of the school year when it looked like she was getting a D in the class, she was feeling really defeated and devastated and was afraid she would fail the class entirely. She is very motivated academically, so this was tough for her, especially since her goal was to take Algebra ll Honors the following year.
We asked around, and Stephanie came highly recommended. We called her and she was there in a day to help. Stephanie was calm, encouraging and connected so easily with my daughter. By the end of the first session my daughter understood what her math teacher hadn’t managed to get her to understand. She had a few more sessions with Stephanie and felt confident and calm once again. She got a B- in the class, and, more importantly, she understood the material and qualified to enroll in Algebra ll Honors as she had hoped. We are very grateful to Stephanie and have peace of mind knowing that she’s there when we need her.

Stephanie Avedon is without exception the best Math Tutor a parent could ask for. Although my son did well in school, he always struggled with Math. Stephanie has the unique ability to breakdown concepts in both algebra and geometry to where they become easy for a student to grasp and understand. I can't thank her enough for her time, patience, and most of all the fantastic results she produced.
